Abbies run record to 7-0
HAMPTON - The Lancaster Abbies completed a perfect 7-0 regular season with a 13-0 victory over the hometown Hampton Huskies in peewee football action. The Huskies finished second with a 6-1 mark. Scoring touchdowns for the Abbies were Alex Miller and Nick Beale. Tyler Thorne recorded a convert along with nine tackles to lead the Abbies on defence. In bantam action, Hampton defeated the Kennebecasis Valley Renegades 45-6.

Grant, Caron win weekly awards
BOUCHERVILLE - Saint John Sea Dogs defenceman Alex Grant is the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's defensive player of the week. Grant scored a goal and two assists while posting a plus-3 rating in two Saint John wins. In addition, he was a physical presence in both games. Rimouski Océanic forward Jordan Caron is the QMJHL's offensive player of the week. In three Océanic wins, Caron fired five goals, including two game-winners.

JDI Invitational goes Thursday
SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Track Club will host the second J.D. Irving Invitational elementary school cross-country meet on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday is the rain date. The meet will be held at the Reversing Falls Park on Lancaster Avenue. Following are the age categories and start times - Grade 3 boys 1000m at 3:40 p.m.; Grade 3 girls 1000m at 3:55 p.m.; Grade 4 boys 1000m at 4:10 p.m.; Grade 4 girls 1000m at 4:30 p.m.; Grade 5 boys 1000m at 4:50 p.m.; Grade 5 girls 1000m at 5:10 p.m.

Rovers roll over Moncton
BELLEISLE - Adam Roy scored two tries, Matt Smith notched one try and Alex McQuinn added a convert, leading the Belleisle Rovers to a 17-12 win over Moncton in New Brunswick Rugby Union senior A action. The Rovers will face the Saint John Trojans in one semifinal, while the other has Moncton taking on Fredericton.

Aigles fly over visiting Ravens
MONCTON - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues downed the visiting Carleton Ravens of Ottawa 4-1 in women's exhibition hockey Saturday. Kristine Labrie of St-Quentin scored the first two goals. Valerie Boisclair and Genevieve David also scored for U de M. In men's exhibition action, the Acadia Axemen beat the St. Thomas Tommies 4-1. Tyler Whitehead had two goals and an assist for Acadia, while Paul MacFarland and Matt Scrivers added singles. Bradley Gallant had the lone goal for STU.

Eddie earns weekly award
SACKVILLE - Kicker-punter Olivier Eddie is Mount Allison University's athlete of the week. Eddie punted for a 40.3 yards average and tallied a 69-yard average on kickoffs, kicking twice for 138 yards. He also made one field goal and one touchback. Eddie leads all the field-goal categories in the Atlantic University Sport, kicking with an 83 per cent success rate and has a 2.50 field goals per game average. He also leads the AUS in scoring with 68 points and is second in Canadian Interuniversity Sport for field goal percentage.
