Best on AUS pitch battle for titles

HALIFAX - The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds take on the Universite de Moncton Blue Eagles today at noon in the opening game of the Atlantic University Sport men's soccer championship at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

The six-team championship continues Saturday and Sunday. In St. John's, the U de M women's team take on St. Francis Xavier at 4:30 p.m. in the opening game of that AUS championship, which also continues Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, Ken Morrison of Fredericton (UNB), Olivier Babineau of Dieppe (U de M) and Matt Lally of Fredericton (UNB) were named to the conference's first-all star squad. Iain MacLeod of Mount Pearl, NL (Mt. Allison) and Patrick Gautreau of Memramcook (U de M) were selected to the second all-star team.

In the women's conference, Chanelle Roy of Bathurst (University of Prince Edward Island) earned a berth on the first all-star team while Gabrielle Babineau of Dieppe (U de M), Josee LeBlanc of Grande-Digue (U de M) ad Allie MacLean of West Branch, N.S. (Mount Allison) were named to the second all-star team.
