Peewee AAA Vito's rally late for win

SAINT JOHN - The Kennebecasis Valley Vito's Rangers scored two third-period goals to break a 4-4 tie and downed the District 3 Fredericton Caps in Bell Aliant Peewee AAA league action. Will Drummond opened the Rangers' scoring in the first period with Michael Roscoe, Kole Hayward and Adam Downey each adding singles. Sam King added two more, including the deciding goal in the third. Goalie Ethan Domokos earned the win. Nic Pellerin scored twice for the Caps with Patrick Daley and Ryan Tompkins adding singles.

MacKinnon powers Red Hawks' victory

SAINT JOHN - Katrina MacKinnon notched a hat trick for Rothesay High as the Red Hawks dropped Saint John High 8-2 in New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association girl's high school hockey exhibition action. Katherine McMillan added two goals while Renee Chiasson, Caitlin Lynch and Morgan Lynch contributed with singles. Marlee Beale and Gina Ouellet replied for Saint John. The regular season kicks off tonight.

Colwell's Grocery grabs season opener

SAINT JOHN - Colwell's Grocery posted a decisive 5-1 win over the Scorpions in their first regular season game of the Molson Canadian Saint John Women's Hockey League. Janice Keating, Pam Mahabee, Linda Robinson, Tracy Duncan and Andrea Snow scored for the victors while Digger Leger replied for the Scorpions with help from Chrissy Mott.

Caps exact revenge on Phantoms

FREDERICTON - The Fredericton A.L. Gullison Disaster Kleenup Caps downed the Saint John Phantoms 7-4 in New Brunswick Midget AAA Hockey League action Saturday at the Aitken Centre. Devon Doucette led the Phantoms with a pair of goals. Paul Gulliver and Matt Allan also beat Caps goalie Josh LeBrun, who made 22 saves. Phantoms netminder Marcus MacDonald stopped 28 of 35 shots. Fredericton improved to 4-2-1 and avenged a 6-4 loss to the Phantoms last week while Saint John slipped to 2-2-1.

Atlantic gridiron gang gets trophy

SAINT JOHN - The Atlantic Football League has made nice catch from Moosehead Breweries. Moosehead has donated the Moosehead Cup, which will be presented to the AFL's first-ever champion in Saint John Nov. 21. The University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves (3-0) have clinched first place in the regular season with one game remaining, a home date Saturday against the Moncton Raiders. The Raiders (1-2) meet the University of New Brunswick Fredericton Red Bombers (1-3) in the league semifinal Nov. 14. The winner will face the Seawolves with the league title and the Moosehead Cup at stake.

UNBSJ cruises past Side Table

SAINT JOHN - University of New Brunswick Saint John dropped West Side Table for One 7-1 in Saint John Molson Women's Hockey League action. Brooke McMaloney and Erin Nobles lead UNBSJ with two goals apiece while Chloe Brown, Jessica Coughlan and Meaghan Higgins added singles. Stacey Brown had the lone marker for the West Side squad.

Hawks prevail in battle of KV

QUISPAMSIS - The KV Hawks got the best of the KV Sabres 3-2 in the battle of the Kennebecasis Valley. Harrison Buck, Anderson MacDonald and Brett Magee scored for Atom AAA Division Hawks while Noah Johnson and Ryan Reay replied for the Sabres.
