SAINT JOHN - The rosters for the first all-star clash in more than 20 years between the New Brunswick Intermediate Baseball League and the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League have been announced. Five players each from the Saint John Expos, the Moncton Cubs, Chatham Ironmen and Fredericton Royals have been selected to take on the Intermediate league all-stars today at 3 p.m. at Memorial Field.

Four members each from the Hampton Coast Tire Indians and Riverview Weedman A's have been named to the 20-man Intermediate squad. The Portland Pub Petes and the Saint John Mets will each have three players on the all-star team, while two players each will represent the Molson Cougars, Saint John Aquarius Dodgers and the Port City Bud Light Buccaneers.

The new all-star game incarnation will pit the intermediates, generally older players who may have played junior or senior in the past, against the 21-and-under junior players in a nine inning game.

Following the all-star game, the league executive and coaches of the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League will meet to discuss the high number of rainouts plaguing the circuit this season.

In total, 17 games have been lost so far due to wet weather.

Tim Collins, head coach of the Saint John Expos, said the meeting will explore options for rescheduling the cancelled matches. Although at this point, Collins said, the task is daunting.

"It becomes physically difficult to make them all up, with the schedule you have, so I don't know what will happen," Collins said.

The Expos and Fredericton Royals game slated for Thursday was rained out, for the third time this season. The two teams have yet to meet on the diamond after six weeks of play.

Molson Cougars - Scott Arsenault, Jason Seelye.

Riverview WeedMan A's - Lynden Steeves, Kevin Basque, Jon Loughery, Aaron Cole.

Hampton Coast Tire Indians - Corey Fraser, Troy Summerville, Neil Johnston, Kevin DeSaulniers.
