Pick of the week: As part of the New Brunswick Summer Music Festival, there will be four main series classical concerts this week featuring the compositions of Joseph-Maurice Ravel and Louis Applebaum. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and next Saturday. All concerts are at Memorial hall, UNB campus, 7:30 p.m. Visit http://cel.unb.ca/music/summerfestival. Today: InterAction Children's Theatre Co. presents "A Year in the Life of Miss Polly Divine." With musical numbers from 'Wicked,' 'Hairspray,' 'Oliver,' 'Annie,' 'Anne of Green Gables,' 'Thoroughly Modern Millie,' and 'Rent!' Featuring the talents and energy of 40 young performers aged 5 to 20. Imperial Theatre, 7 p.m. For tickets call 674-4100.

Sunday: One of Canada's most entertaining and versatile chamber music ensembles, I Tromboni performs at Brunswick Street Baptist Church, Fredericton, at 7 p.m. The Vancouver-based quintet has been broadcast nationwide on CBC television. Under the Stars Classic Film Series every Sunday night in Barracks Square, Fredericton. Aug. 17: 'Lost Horizon' (Ronald Coleman, Jane Wyatt), 1937 adventure/fantasy, following a film short by a N.B. filmmaker. Film starts at dusk, approximately 8:30 p.m.

The Early Music Studio presents the last concert in its Monday Music Series, 12:15 p.m. to 12:50 p.m., St. John's (Stone) Church, 87 Carleton Street, Saint John.The concerts feature leading New Brunswick musicians in programs of works from the 17th and 18th centuries. Performers for the series include Tim Blackmore (recorder, harpsichord), Richard Kidd (harpsichord), Robert Lewis (bassoon), Sara Liptay (violin), Michael Molloy (organ), Edward Phillips (trumpet), and Sally Wright (flute). The St. Andrews Film Society will screen 'Bon Cop, Bad Cop' (2006, Quebec, 116 min, PG- 13, starring Colm Feore, Patrick Huard) at the W.C. O'Neill Arena Theatre at 7:30 p.m. After a body is discovered hanging over a sign right on the border between Ontario and Quebec, a pair of police officers from each province, are compelled to work together to solve the murder. The New Brunswick Summer Music Festival in Fredericton is hosting free family talks and performances at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in a relaxed and informal setting. Tunes & 'Toons, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. With musician and educator Richard Hornsby, watch and listen to the work of Lou Applebaum, one of Canada's most prolific film composers. We'll look at film shorts and excerpts of documentaries as we learn how music is used to enhance the film genre. For more information contact the festival office, 458-7836.

Tuesday: Opera New Brunswick presents the Young Artists Recital Series featuring Cian Horrobin (tenor) and Signa Love (mezzo-soprano) in a concert of Mozart, Handel, Bach, Ravel, Faure, Brahms, Hahn and more. Cian and Signa are pursuing opera studies in Toronto, at the Glenn Gould Studio (RCM) and Opera School (U of Toronto) respectively, and will be appearing in September presentation of 'The Magic Flute'. The duo will perform in three cities this week: Tuesday at the Wilmot United Church, Fredericton; Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Moncton; and Thursday at the Church of St. Andrew and St. David, Saint John. Concert time is 7 p.m., with tickets available at the door or by calling Opera NB at 672-4534. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.

Wednesday: The Summer Noon Concert Series presents the the vocal stylings of Fourth Avenue in its final concert in this year's series at the Church of St. Andrew & St. David, 164 Germain Street in uptown Saint John. The trio is comprised of Sue Cox, Cynthia Doyle, and Elaine Maloney. The concert starts at 12:15. For more information please call 634-3092.

The South Wales Male Choir presents "Sounds of Wales" at Wilmot United Church, 473 King St., Fredericton, at 7:30 p.m. This choir has toured around the world. Tickets are $20. and $10, available from the church office, 458-1066 during normal office hours or at the door.

The second annual Summer Music series at St. Dunstan's will take place each Wednesday in August beginning at 7 p.m. at St. Dunstan's Church on the corner of Brunswick and Regent Streets, Fredericton. These informal concerts will feature mostly light classical music with a bit of ragtime, jazz and popular styles. Aug. 20: Low Sounds with Emmanuelle Bouffard, cello and Ernest Brown, trombone and Diane Roxborough-Brown, piano. A free-will offering will be taken and proceeds go toward the piano maintenance fund at St. Dunstan's.

Thursday: The New Brunswick Summer Festival, Aug. 11-23 in Fredericton, features classical chamber music performed by some of Canada's finest professional musicians, including Juno nominated violinist Jasper Wood. The Festival will show the film, 'The Maritime Violin of Jasper Wood,' which won five Silver Wave awards in 2007, at 6:15 p.m., Memorial Hall, UNB Fredericton campus. Pop Goes the City Festival, Aug. 21-23. Retro '80s music festival, Saint John. More than a dozen bands under the big tent including P.E.I.'s Haywire, Montreal's The Box, Toronto's Blue Peter and The Spoons. Fredericton tour and talk of the 'Building New Brunswick' exhibition and downtown walking tour with curator John Leroux At the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, 7 p.m. This presentation is free to gallery members and included in admission price for non-members.

A Whale of a Time, 6:30 to 8 p.m., New Brunswick Museum, Saint John. An introduction to Delilah, the Bay of Fundy's North Atlantic right whale, and other marine mammals. Friday: Signings by Mark Blagrave, author of 'Silver Salts,' a novel set in Saint John in the early 20th century.
