On my way home from Bathurst on May 3 just off the Trans-Canada near Charlo, I spotted this mother and her family romping in the sun. I tried to get closer, but was afraid I would scare her away from her pups. I got a few pictures just the same. There were four pups in all. - T. Carrier, Eel River Crossing

This white-tailed dove was spotted strutting about in my back yard in Rothesay on May 2. On occasion it would stand still and then simultaneously thrust its head forward and f lick its tail upward in an abrupt motion. Kaufmann's Field Guide to the Birds of North America (2000) indicates that this bird typically summers in the deep southern states and northern Mexico, which makes this find all the more intriguing. - Garrett Brodersen, Rothesay
