Art, out and about

Third Space Gallery, Saint John's only artist-run centre, took to the streets - and the New Brunswick Museum - for a trio of exhibitions in August. Sackville native Tamara Henderson's interactive When I Am Not Around, at the University of New Brunswick Saint John's Grand Hall at 40 Charlotte St., uses a cellphone to link artist and spectator (call 651-0393 to activate). Around the corner on King Street, Stephan Schulz's Drumline Equally distant from both sides, the fourth exhibition in the gallery's SHAPESHIFTERS series, features traffic-activated drums.

At the museum, Jennifer Dorner's Sky Vessels is an exhibition of paintings of artificial sky that include minuscule elements which highlight the bizarre attributes of leisure activities emblematic of Western culture.
