Lightning win in high-scoring tilt
SAINT JOHN - Allain Chaisson's hat trick was the difference as Kacey's Bud Lightning dropped East Coast Moving 10-7 in East-West Suburban Hockey League action. Brian Stanley, Ryan McHugh and Tim Hay each notched two goals in the winning effort while Lloyd Burnside added a single. Andrew O'Hanley led East Coast Moving with two goals while singles came from Scott Johnson, Alex Quinn, Donny Daley, Terry Flecknell and Greg McLaughlin. Meanwhile, Jason O'Brien scored twice to help power Rocky's Moosheads to a 5-2 win over the Vito's. Shane Toner, Darren Langille and Adam Baxter filled out scoring for the winners while John Childs and Chris Hawkins replied for the Vito's.

Slammers are hoops silver medalists
MONCTON - The KV Mini A Slammers captured a silver medal at the Moncton Hawks Invitational tournament this weekend after winning three of four matches. The Slammers fell 53-41 to Fredericton in the final. Leading the way for KV was Alex Loughery with 12 points and Christopher Spurrell with 10. On Saturday, the Slammers beat Riverview 54-34 and then Charlottetown 63-36 to reach the crossovers, where they downed the host Hawks 71-29 using 16 points from Loughery, 15 from Kack Tilley and 12 from Spurrell.

Seawolves suffer first loss of season
SAINT JOHN - West Side Table for One's Paula Stackhouse notched a goal and assist en route to handing the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves a 2-0 loss in Saint John Molson Women's Hockey League action. Jennifer Reid also scored for the winners while Maryelle Midgley had an assist as the Seawolves suffered their first loss of the season.

Rip Seely games go this week
QUISPAMSIS - The annual Rip Seely games between the Kennebcasis Valley Crusaders and Rothesay Red Hawks' boys and girl's senior basketball teams are slated for Wednesday. Both games will take place at Rothesay High, with the girl's squads playing at 6 p.m. and the boy's side at 8 p.m.

Police squad takes on Maritime greats
SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Police Association is holding its annual hockey game fundraiser on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. the Lord Beaverbrook Rink. The Saint John Police All-stars will take on a squad of Maritime All-stars, featuring several former NHL players from the region such as Gordie Gallant, Darcy Simon, Mac Davis and Marc Hussey. The Saint John Police Association will use proceeds from the games to support their ongoing community activeies, including a game-night donation of $5,000 to the local Romero House Soup Kitchen. Board announces wall inductees
MIRAMICHI - The Board of Directors of the City of Miramichi Sports Wall of Fame has selected 10 honorees to be inducted to the wall at a ceremony Feb. 19 at the Rodd Miramichi Inn. The following individuals and teams will be inducted to the wall: Kevin Burchill (athlete), Bill Fenelon (builder), Brian King (athlete), Peter Manderson (athlete), Jane Marshall (builder), Mark Rutter (builder), Michael Sokolowski (athlete), Jimmy Wood (athlete), Stephen Adams Curling Rink (team) Loggieville Baseball Bisons (team).

Losier shuts out Premium Drys
QUISPAMSIS - Angus MacKenzie and Steve Hynes notched singles as the Alpines blanked the Premium Drys 2-0 in Quispamsis Moosehead Oldtimers action. Gary Losier had the shutout. In other action, Al Williams scored twice to lead the Alpine Lights to a 6-3 win over the Mooseheads. Doucette, Shawn Dollemont, Lee Furlong and Jason Arnold also scored for the winners while Andrew Ross, Scott Conway and Rick Frenette replied for the Mooseheads.
