SAINT JOHN - The championship game of the Atlantic Football League between the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves and UNB Fredericton Red Bombers at 2 p.m. today at Millideville Field will feature a live radio broadcast online at www.hometeamsports.ca.

Saint John teams struggle Friday
MONCTON - Friday was a rough day for Saint John teams at the Monctonian AAA Challenge midget hockey tournament. In minor division action, the Saint John Phantoms dropped an 8-2 decision to the Pownal (P.E.I.) Red Devils. Cody Garnhum and Cole Gallant each scored two goals for the Red Devils, while singles came from Logan MacKinnon, Kyle MacKinon, Brad Stewart and Willie MacGuigan. Charles Grimes and Jonathan Cosman replied for Saint John, which trailed 2-0 after the first period and 4-2 through 40 minutes. The Phantoms finished the round-robin schedule with a record of 0-3. In major action, the Saint John Vito's skated to a 4-4 tie with Cape Breton. Andrew Dolan tallied two goals for the Vito's, while Ryan Langan and Aidan Kelly added singles. Cape Breton's goals came courtesy of Jordan Langlois, Mitchell Deruelle, Brock Morrison and Kyle Kavanaugh. Cape Breton held period leads of 2-1 and 4-2. The Vito's (1-0-1) wrap up their round-robin schedule with today's game against St. John's at 9 a.m.

Nine-bout card set for tonight
SAINT JOHN - Light-heavyweight Adam Black from Saint John has a major challenge in the ring tonight when he takes on Steve Franjic of Ontario in an exhibition card between members of the Saint John Golden Gloves Boxing Club and a touring unit from Ontario. Franjic is a Canadian champion and is part of a strong contingent that is in action tonight at Exhibition Park. In addition, Adam Goguen of Saint John will take on Ryan Baulk of Ontario in a middleweight bout. There are nine bouts scheduled o the card, which starts at 7 p.m. The doors open at 6 p.m. and rush seating is available for $10. The other fights on the card include Wesley Moore of Saint John against Mario Chavez of Ontario, Branden Parisien of Saint John against Liam Hughes of Ontario, Josh Cummings of Saint John against Kyle Allen of Ontario. In other bouts, Cooper Scott of Bathurst faces Steve Dwyer of Ontario, Toby Harding of Grand falls will take on Jean-Luc Gindon of Bathurst, Alicia Moore of Saint John faces Naomi Tremblay of Fredericton and Ty Cluette of Bathurst is against Andrew Crawford of Grand Falls.

Daley earns shutout against Pirates
SAINT JOHN - Aaron Haines provided the offence and netminder Matt Daley defended the pipes as Rocky's Moosehead's blanked the Port City Pawn Shop Pirates 2-0 in East-West Suburban Hockey League action. In other action, Ryan McHugh notched a pair of goals as Kacey's Bud Lightning edged Jake's Pub 3-2. Jamie Grant added a single for the winners while Steve Mason had both markers for the Pirates.

Jakes Warriors take it to Metros
SAINT JOHN - Mike King, Tom Johnston and Robbie King each connected for two goals as Jakes Warriors dropped the Mooshead Metros 8-5 in Jack Keyes Metro Gents Hockey League action. Corey McMicheals and Justin Dryden added singles to round out scoring for the winners, while Sheldon McDevitt notched a hat trick for the Metros, which also got singles from Joey Rogers and Mike Dawes. Jani King tied KGL Leons 3-3 using markers from Rick Harley, Brad McNeil and Mark Farwell. Rob Russell, Paul Alexander and Jason Brown replied for Leons. Kelly William's three goals helped the Alpines demolish the Vito's 8-1. James Buckley notched a pair in the win while singles came from Del Watson, Art Breen and Jonathan Gilbert. The Vito's lone marker came courtesy of Rob Plume. Kyle Charlton's hat trick propelled The Moose to a 5-3 win over the Thrashers. Norman Baker and Trevor Baker added singles while Phil Giggey and Tro Hueser replied for the Thrashers in the contest.

Canan powers Shooters to win
SAINT JOHN - Justin Canan notched a pair of goals to help the Fairville Shooters to a 4-2 win over the Cleghorn Canadians in Lancaster Centennial Hockey League action. Mike Dunnan and Mike Craig added singles for the winners while Neil Jeffrey notched both markers for the Canadians. The Shooters went on to tie the AQ Bud Light Chiefs 2-2 using goals from Mike Hewey and Jay Blanchard. Pat Lyons and Jeremy Hurley replied for the Chiefs.
