Cape Breton's MacIsaac in spotlight
Published Saturday November 21st, 2009

Here's what's happening this weekend on the small screen:
Saturday
* Find out what makes Cape Breton fiddler Ashley MacIsaac tick in tonight's Star Portraits. Twenty celebrity paintings from the series - in which artists paint portraits of celebrities - are going up for public auction next Tuesday at the Joyner Waddington Auction of Important Canadian Art. Proceeds from the sales will go to 13 charities. (Bravo)
* Catch Eddie Murphy's older brother, Charlie, performing standup in the Live at Gotham series (The Comedy Network). And Saturday Night Live welcomes host Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was recently in the charming film 500 Days of Summer. The Dave Matthews Band performs. (Global, NBC)
Sunday
* It's curtains for Curb Your Enthusiasm's stellar seventh season. The finale centres on a "returned favour" that "costs Larry quality time with Cheryl." TV Land and TV Guide Network recently announced they are jointly acquiring basic cable rights to the comedy series, produced by and starring Seinfeld co-creator Larry David. (HBO Canada)
* The 2009 American Music Awards air live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Taylor Swift, who was the darling of last week's Country Music Association Awards, has a leading six nominations. Rihanna, Eminem, Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert are among the performers. (A, ABC)
