Man struck at crosswalk
SUSSEX - A 30-year-old man is in the Saint John Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck crossing the street at a crosswalk in Sussex on Tuesday afternoon. Cpl. Graham Milner of the Sussex RCMP said the accident happened around 4 p.m. as the man was making his way across Maple Avenue in the vicinity of the Tea Room downtown. He was taken to the Sussex Health Centre and later transferred to the Saint John Regional Hospital where he remains. Graham said police are still investigating to determine the cause but it appears at this time that the sun may have obstructed the driver's vision and contributed to the collision.
Delay
Traffic reduced to one lane
SUSSEX - Traffic was reduced to one lane for an hour Tuesday evening as a collision on Highway 1, just west of Norton, was cleaned up. Cpl. Graham Milner of the Sussex RCMP said no one was hurt, except for a deer, when an SUV collided with the animal around 7 p.m. The vehicle was disabled and therefore blocked one lane of the highway until it could be removed.

Police investigating missing stop sign
HAMPTON - A stop sign on the end of the Passekeag Road is missing, says Hampton RCMP Cpl. Pat Cole. Police are investigating the theft that was reported Monday and ask anyone with information to come forward. "Not only is this a criminal offence, it puts the motoring public at risk as the end of the road comes up quickly where this theft occurred," Cole said.

Hampton puts call out for more floats
HAMPTON - The town's annual Santa Claus Parade wants more float entries. Individuals, organizations and companies interested in entering a float in the Nov. 28 parade are asked to contact the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce by calling 832-2559 or emailing hacc@nb.nbnet.ca. This year, Santa is making his appearance earlier in the day. The parade, which traditionally was held in the evening, will begin this year at 4 p.m. It also has a new route, starting at Hampton High School and ending at Hampton Elementary School.
