Provenance?

I am from Campbellton and live in Montreal. I moved about 12 years ago primarily for my career.

Why music?

It was such a natural thing for me. I grew up in music playing all kinds of instruments and doing so many different projects - big band jazz, classical piano training at the convent, guitar lessons, classical and pop music with the orchestra at my high school, et cetera.

What was your breakthrough moment?

When I saw the group Harmonium live, I knew I wanted to make music my life.

What would you be if you weren't a musician?

I'd be a very miserable and unhappy person.

What are you working on next?

New songs, developing a new show with my brand-new band; also a mini tour coming up at the end of November.

What place on Earth inspires you?

Mount Everest because it is so inaccessible and because of all the mystery surrounding it.

What place in New Brunswick inspires you?

I love the Campbellton area because nature's beauty is so present - lakes, rivers, montains, et cetera - but I also like the area of Cocagne and Cap-Pelé for the ocean.

Secret indulgence?

Good wine.

Your favourite hero of fiction?

The Incredible Hulk for his courage and strength.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Going through the Corinth Canal on a yacht with about one foot from the rock wall on both sides of the boat ... while drinking a glass of champagne - because it is the custom.

What is your greatest fear?

To not be able to play piano anymore because of a serious injury.

Greatest joy?

Being out in nature.

What are you reading?

Les bienveillantes from Jonathan Littell (Prix Goncourt 2006).

What's on your iPod?

Joni Mitchell, Keith Jarrett, Leonard Cohen, Björk.

What talent would you like to have?

To be able to draw well.

What do you treasure most?

My family.

What is your motto?

Live free or die.

How would you like to die?

Singing on stage holding a G note real loud.

Your favourite musician?

Al Jarreau because of the beautiful and tremendous freedom he inspires.
