* The Sheldon: www.thesheldon.org/. The art galleries housed next to the Sheldon Concert Hall, 3648 Washington Blvd., are running an exhibit on legends of St. Louis blues music. The show runs through Aug. 28, and admission is free. Gallery hours: Tuesday, noon-8 p.m.; Wednesday-Friday, noon-5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Closed major holidays. The galleries are also open one hour before live performances at the concert hall and during intermissions.

* Upcoming blues performances at the Sheldon include the Bottoms Up Blues Gang on Nov. 17 and the St. Louis Blues and Soul Review, featuring the Soulard Blues Band, on Nov. 27. Concert ticket prices vary.

* St. Louis Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society: http://www.randbpreservation.org/. The Big George Brock master class will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Portfolio Gallery and Educational Center, 3514 Delmar Blvd. Tickets are $15.

* Fifth annual St. Louis Blues Festival: Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bobby Bland and Shirley Brown headline this event with others at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Chaifetz Arena, 1 South Compton Ave. Ticket prices vary; details at http://www.metrotix.com.

* St. Louis blues venues: Several restaurants and night clubs in areas like Soulard, Laclede's Landing and University City feature live music, including the blues. A good website to check for upcoming blues shows is http://www.stlblues.net.
