Council

No quick fix for flooding

There won't be any quick-fix to flooding, city officials said at Monday night's common council meeting. The city is waiting for a report from Terrain Group that will outline what value the city would get out of a long list of proposed flooding solutions, including a diversion pipe that would drain runoff from the flood-prone east side into the Kennebecasis River. Officials are also working with various flooded homeowners to document different reasons for flooding, said Paul Groody, the city's municipal operations commissioner. "If you're knee-deep in water, talk's cheap," said Coun. Chris Titus, after Groody's presentation. "The best we can do is tell the public that we're working on it, but there's not going to be a quick fix on it."
