Cops need help finding drug dens

FREDERICTON - Local police are hoping to stamp out neighbourhood drug houses. But Fredericton police officers say they can't do it without help from residents of the streets and neighbourhoods affected by drug dens. They say it often takes residents near drug houses to alert police. Police are creating a complaint form and will protect the privacy of individuals who call with their suspicions.

N.L. premier's stance dismissed

FREDERICTON - Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams doesn't have a constitutional leg to stand on when it comes to fighting the sale of NB Power to Hydro-Quebec in court, says a Fredericton constitutional law professor. University of New Brunswick Prof. Carissima Mathen says that constitutional challenges usually involve disputes between a province and the federal government, not two provinces. "I am not aware of any precedent for a (constitutional) challenge of this nature," she says.
