Clinics
Vaccine shortage postpones clinics
Due to a shortage of H1N1 vaccines, Horizon Health Network has announced that the clinics listed at these locations have been postponed until further notice: Back Bay Elementary School, Hammond River Valley Elementary School, Lawrence Station School, Quispamsis Elementary School, Champlain Heights Elementary School and St. Rose Elementary School. Clinics for the remaining priority groups and the general public will open as soon as possible. Officials say every New Brunswick resident wishing to have the vaccination will have the chance. Robbery
Cabbie's cash stolen by customers
Police are investigating the robbery of a taxi driver late Sunday night. It happened after a cabbie picked up two men on King Street who said they wanted to go to Martinon. As they approached the address, the passengers told the driver they wanted all of his money. "No weapon was seen, although they indicated they might have one," Sgt. Pat Bonner said. One of the robbers is described as being about five foot, eight inches tall and in his early 20s, of medium build and with dark brown hair. He was wearing a white hoodie and ball cap. The second suspect is also in his early 20s and is short and stocky with a dark complexion. The cabbie was uninjured in the incident that took place about 11:30 p.m. The two left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Fire
Man seen running from north end blaze
Witnesses saw a man running from a north end fire on Sunday night carrying a gas container, says Sgt. Patrick Bonner of the Saint John Police Force. The fire, which began inside the front door of a three-storey, wood-frame building at 230 Victoria St., was quickly extinguished by firefighters. The man was in his 20s and wore a T-shirt, witnesses said. Just minutes later, at the corner of Adelaide and Metcalf streets, police came upon a bleeding man. Witnesses described six men hovering over the man, who appears to have been the victim of an assault, Bonner said. He was taken to hospital for treatment of eye and head injuries. He was unresponsive, but breathing, when police arrived. It's unclear if the two cases are related.
Help
The Home Depot renovates shelter
A team of 14 volunteers from The Home Depot will descend on Hestia House today to install new kitchen cabinets and bathroom cupboards and paint and refurbish bedrooms. Employees are donating their time and skills to complete the projects in one day. Hestia House is a refuge for women and their children suffering from domestic abuse.
Accident
Mishap disrupts phone service
A large, underground cable on Catherwood Street owned by Bell Aliant that was cut by construction crews on Thursday at about noon left about 2,500 customers without phone and Internet service, which meant some business transactions were unable to be completed, spokeswoman Isabelle Robinson said. Most of the service had been restored by Sunday, she said.

Perhaps it's just as well that nothing was said... The criminals didn't appear to have figured out that those businesses also did not have functioning alarms.
