* Today: The Imperial Theatre presents 'Old Thomas & The Little Fairy' at 2 p.m. For more information visit www.imperialtheatre.nb.ca or the box office at 674-4100. The show is also presented at the Playhouse in Fredericton Sunday.

* Sunday: The St. Andrews Film Society presents 'The Short Life of José Antonio Gutierrez' (2006, 90 min., Germany/Switzerland) at the W. C. O'Neill Arena Theatre at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome and there is no admission charge, although a donation of $3 for members ($4 for non-members) is suggested.
A tribute to Fred Cogswell with Jo-Anne Elder, Governor General-nominated translator and colleague of the late Cogswell, takes place at odd sundays at molly's, Molly's Coffee House, 554 Queen St., Fredericton, at 2 p.m. All welcom. Free draw for books.
Daniel Léger performs at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton. Special guests include Denis Richard, George Belliveau, Josée Vautour and Carole Daigle.

Gallery 78's 33rd anniversary exhibition 'The Early Years' ends today. The show features David Mckay, Dawn McCracken, Stephen May, Bruno Bobak, Marjory Donaldson, Stephen Scott, Brigid Toole Grant, Molly Lamb Bobak, William Forrestall,David Silverberg,Joseph Plaskett and Anne Dunn. 'Think!,' a varied program of music for voice, takes place at 3 p.m. in Brunton Auditorium on the Mount Allison campus. Soprano Helen Pridmore will be joined onstage by her colleague, pianist David Rogosin. The pair will present a group of songs describing nature and the beauty of moonlight in musical form. There will also be works for solo voice presented by Pridmore. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and will be available at the door.
* Monday: Journalist, member of Amnesty International and recipient of the Order of Canada Sally Armstrong speaks about her work for basic rights for women at the Sussex Lions Den, Willow Court, Sussex, at 7 p.m. Armstrong will share stories of her efforts on behalf of Afghan women and others in war-torn corners of the world. Enjoy readings, music and refreshments. Donations will be accepted to help pay for a teacher and school supplies for Afghan girls.
Juno Award-nominee Emm Gryner performs at Crumb's Café in Fredericton in support of her new CD 'Goddess.' Gryner has played in David Bowie's band and also recently received accolades from U2's Bono who claimed that her song 'Almighty Love' was one of six songs from the last 20 years that he wished he had written. Gryner also performs at Struts Gallery in Sackville on Wednesday, Hampton's Vintage Bistro on Nov. 7 and the Blue Olive in Saint John on Nov. 8. The Annual Human Rights Forum hosted by the Hampton John Peters Humphrey Foundation presents Nelofer Pazira, activist and author of 'A Bed of Red Flowers: In Search of My Afghanistan' at Hampton High Theatre at 7:30 p.m. An award-winning filmmaker, actress, journalist and author, Pazira grew up in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she lived through 10 years of Soviet occupation before escaping with her family to Pakistan in 1989. From there, she emigrated to New Brunswick in 1990. She has since made it her life's work to create awareness about Afghanistan through various media. Her film credits include 'Kandahar,' 'Return to Kandahar,' 'Audition' and 'Act of Dishonour.' Admission is free. All welcome.
Clyde Wray presents 'The Diary Within My Head /Lysistrata' at Imperial Theatre at 8 p.m. 'The Diary Within My Head' is produced, written and performed by Wray. 'Lysistrata,' with its cast of eight, was written by Aristophanes with the modern retelling directed and written by Wray. Tickets, $25, are available at the box office.
* Tuesday: Cuban-American classical pianist Ana Lourdes Rodriguez performs at 1 p.m. in McCain Hall, St. Thomas University, Fredericton. Rodriguez plays Spanish and Latin American music. Manitoba's Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music's baritone Mel Braun, tenor Robert MacLaren and vocal coach Laura Loewen present a concert in Brunton Auditorium, in Sackville, at 12:30 p.m. A master class with Mount Allison's five male voice majors will follow at 2:30 p.m. Admission to the concert is $10 adults, $5 seniors and students.
John McDermott's 'A Music Tribute to Our Veterans' comes to Imperial Theatre at 7:30 p.m. McDermott will feature songs 'We'll Meet Again,' 'I'll Be Seeing You' and 'Bringing Buddy Home,' as well as traditional Celtic tunes, folk songs and popular favourites. Call the box office for tickets. McDermott also performs at the Playhouse in Fredericton Wednesday at 8 p.m.
The Capitol Theatre opens the art exhibition 'Stage Portraits' (Portraits de scène) by photographer Francine Dion in the Capitol Theatre Irving Lobby at 5 p.m. This exhibit is an homage to popular Acadian music. All welcome.
* Wednesday: The Loisirs socioculturels de l'Université de Moncton presents Frédric Gary Comeau at 8 p.m. at Moncton's Capitol Theatre. Call the box office for tickets.
The Imperial Theatre in Saint John hosts Nikkie Gallant and Ryan LeBlanc at 8 p.m. Embracing a diverse blend of musical genres, Gallant of P.E.I. and LeBlanc of St. Andrews, N.B., seamlessly blend a touch of home and a penchant for adventure.
Halifax painter Sara Hartland-Rowe, speaks about her work at the Owens Art Gallery in Sackville at 7:30 p.m. Hartland-Rowe works with site-specific wall paintings, shaped canvases, stitched drawings and other media. All welcome.

The St. Thomas University Holocaust Centre hosts a lecture by Dr. Ruth Marcus entitled 'Once There was a Shtetl Named Lunna' at 7 p.m. in James Dunn Hall, room G1. This lecture is part of the annual Kristaillnacht commemoration. All welcome.
STU Fine Arts presents violinist Nadia Francavilla and classical guitarist Steven Peacock in a free concert of mostly 20th-century music at noon o in Room 101 (the Recital Room) in Margaret Norrie McCain Hall at St. Thomas University. The duo will present works by Albeniz, Granados, Feld, Piazzolla and Cordero. All welcome.

Gallery Connexion opens the Annex Gallery with exhibitions by Ann Kittredge and Amy Baker at the Playhouse in Fredericton at 5 p.m. 'Soles of a Survivor' by Baker is a series of oil paintings depicting the shoe collection of her late friend and mentor, Mildred Urquart Cain. 'Altered Impressions' and 'The Normal School' are two series of mixed media works by Kittredge. All welcome.

UNB Art Centre, 9 Bailey Dr., Fredericton, opens 'Two Parts of Wonder,' by Denise Préfontaine with a public reception at 5 p.m. In conjunction with the show, Préfontaine will hold a workshop from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. * Saturday, Nov. 7: The Shakespeare Society of Saint John presents a Renaissance Feast at the Delta Brunswick Hotel, 39 King St., at 7:30 p.m. The event features a four-course meal of foods from William Shakespeare's table, along with some readings from the plays and musical entertainment. The Fredericton Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of David Adams, perform 'Mostly Pops!,' an evening of familiar and lively orchestral music at Christ Church Cathedral at 8 p.m. Tickets, $15 adult / $10 senior / $5 student, are available at Westminster Books, from orchestra members and at the door on the evening of the performance.
