Today
* David Copperfield takes the stage at Harbour Station in Saint John for two shows, one at 6 p.m. and one at 9 p.m. The Emmy Award-winning Copperfield has elevated the ancient art of magic to new heights. He has vanished the Statue of Liberty, walked through the Great Wall of China, flown through the air and made audience members disappear and reappear in places they would never expect. * The Animal Rescue League Halloween Howler Dance takes place from 8 p.m. to midnight a the Royal Canadian Legion West, Branch # 69, Wilson St. There will be great prizes for the best costume. Tickets are $10 and if purchased early, tickets will be entered into a draw for more spooktacular prizes. Our animals need you so please join us for a fabulous, funtastic, fundraising evening.
* The Halloween dance planed for 9 p.m. at Latimore Lake has been cancelled due to lack of support. A dance is planned for November.
* The Canadian Mental Health Association New Brunswick Division presents Mindscapes New Brunswick 2009, an exhibit of mental health consumer art with an opening reception at 7 p.m. at La Galérie Colline, 195 Hébert Blvd., Edmundston. Light refreshments will be served. This exhibition remains on display until Dec. 1.
* In the midst of a North American tour opening for Metallica, American metal band Lamb of God will perform in support of its latest release Wrath at Exhibition Hall C at the Moncton Coliseum at 8 p.m. Special guests are GWAR and Job for a Cowboy. Tickets, $52.50, are available at the box office, 857-4100, and online at www.sonicconcerts.com. This show is open to all ages with a licensed area for those over the age of 19. ID required. Tomorrow
* Randy Russell hosts one of his Lily Lake Jamborees on Sunday, 7 p.m., at the Hatheway Pavilion at Lily Lake. It's a Merle Haggard Tribute featuring Randy, his father Rick Russell, his uncle John Merrick, sister Cheryl Russell and Hank Snow sound-alike Bobby Burke with Linda Richardson and other guests, backed by his great Jamboree Band. Tickets are $10 at Grand Bay Pharmacy, Saint John Sewing Centre, Kennebecasis Drugs and door.
* Who needs make believe when the real creature is enough to amaze anyone? Come to the New Brunswick Museum in Saint John from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Bugs, Bats and Big Beavers. Make masks and models and learn many true New Brunswick animal stories. Regular admission applies.
* A Halloween theme story time takes place at 10:30 a.m. at Saint John Free Public Library, Market Square, which hosts activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including Halloween crafts and treats throughout the day. Call 643-7220 for details.
* Get Your Face On! at the Saint John City Market from noon to 5 p.m. Artist Nate Guimond will skillfully apply your Halloween make up. Free, but donations to Inner City Youth Ministry will be accepted. Call 658-2820 for details.
* Saint John's Imperial Theatre presents Old Thomas & The Little Fairy at 2 p.m. The power of storytelling and dance come together in this enchanting performance inspired by a book written by Dominique Demers about an old grouch and a special little girl. Families are encouraged to come to the performance in costume. Tickets, $14, are available at the box office, 674-4100. Babies 12 months and under may attend at no charge. This production will be at The Fredericton Playhouse on Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $14 at the box office, 458-8344, www.theplayhouse.nb.ca.
* Uptown Saint John Trick-or-Treat Trail runs from 3-5 p.m. This is a safe trick-or-treat route. A list of participating retailers will be distributed after the performance of Old Thomas & The Little Fairy at Imperial Theatre.
