SAINT JOHN - Ordered to write letter of apology
A Musquash man who resisted arrest by police on March 2 after he arrived at the scene of a Princess Street altercation with a tire iron bent on helping his cousin has been ordered to write a letter of apology to the police by Oct. 15. Provincial court Judge Anne Jeffries also handed David R. Doucette, 33, a pair of suspended sentences after he entered guilty pleas to a weapons charge and resisting arrest.
Breached order, Upham man fined
SAINT JOHN - Frank Edward Brideau, 20, of Upham was fined $250 by provincial court Judge Alfred Brien after pleading guilty to breaching an undertaking to the court to abstain from alcohol and non-prescription drugs. The court heard how Brideau was intoxicated when police, responding to a citizen complaint, were called to remove him from a Michael Crescent address last Saturday.
Found guilty, gets $1,000 fine
SAINT JOHN - After being found guilty at trial, Justin David Alchorn, 28, of Hillcrest Drive, was fined $1,000 and had his driving privileges suspended for one year for operating a motor vehicle on May 31 with a blood alcohol reading that exceeded the legal limit. He was charged after being apprehended by police on South Market Street.
Loses licence for 15 months
SAINT JOHN - Patrick Leo O'Brien, 44, of Lowell Street West was handed a stiff fine of $1,500, ordered to pay a victim fine surcharge of $225 and suspended from driving for 15 months. He pleaded guilty before provincial court Judge Alfred Brien to driving with a blood alcohol reading of twice the legal limit, on Fairville Boulevard on July 31.
Must complete community service
SAINT JOHN - A 34-year-old Cameron Road man who did just 16 of 200 hours of court-ordered community service between February has been ordered by Judge Alfred Brien to get the service work completed by Dec. 21, or else. "Have it done by then," the judge told Vincent Reid during an appearance in provincial court. "If you don't, bring your toothbrush."
Assault sentencing slated for Nov. 17
SAINT JOHN - Jeffrey Michael Curran, 25, of Pigeon Terrace entered a guilty plea to assault on another person during a provincial court appearance before Judge Alfred Brien. The judge ordered a pre-sentence report before sentencing the man at 10 a.m. on Nov. 17.
