Published Wednesday September 23rd, 2009

Here's what's happening today on the small screen:
* Calgary actor-filmmaker Paul Gross stars in the fantasy drama Eastwick, which is based on John Updike's novel The Witches of Eastwick. Gross - who made a splash on the film scene last year with his war epic Passchendaele - plays a mysterious man in a New England town struck by supernatural occurrences. Rebecca Romijn, Jaime Ray Newman and Lindsay Price co-star as his friends with magical powers. (A, ABC)
* Former Friends star Courteney Cox leads the cast of Cougar Town, playing a recently divorced 40-something who is pressured by a young co-worker (Busy Philipps) to start dating again. (Citytv, ABC)
* And established programs returning for the fall season tonight include Criminal Minds (CTV, CBS), CSI: New York (CTV, CBS) and Crash (Super Channel).
