Religious commitment

Sister Angelina Martz of Saint John, left, was recently honoured by the Sisters of Charity Federation for her active commitment to religious life and to social justice, peace and the integrity of creation. At a ceremony in Emmitsburg, Md., she was joined by Sister Rose Ketchum, a member of the leadership team of the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception. The ceremony was part of ongoing celebrations marking the 200th anniversary year of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, who founded the American Sisters of Charity. Sister Angie was one of 51 women and men to receive a medal of the saint at her Emmitsburg shrine. Medal recipients were honoured for exemplifying St. Elizabeth Seton's spirit through their way of life and ministry. Based in Saint John, the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception are members of the Charity Federation.
