Moncton hotel room rates rise as Bon Jovi comes to town
MONCTON - Hotel rooms in Moncton are in high demand this weekend as the city hosts three major events: a Bon Jovi concert, the Atlanticade Motorcycle Festival, which began Tuesday, and a Jehovah's Witnesses convention at the Moncton Coliseum. This has caused hotel room rates to rise. A four-person room at the Delta Beausejour is going for $300 tonight. The same room will cost between $130 and $180 for most dates in July.

Atlantic provinces sign $20M tourism partnership deal
Details of a three-year deal worth almost $20 million were announced in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Friday. The agreement, a renewal of the Atlantic Canada Tourism partnership, is designed to promote Atlantic Canada as an attractive option for foreign visitors. The campaign is being supported by the federal government, the Atlantic provinces and provincial tourism industry associations within each province. It focuses mainly on key U.S. and European markets.

$20 million biomass furnace factory proposed in Maine
MILLINOCKET, MAINE - A Rockport housing developer plans to create as many as 150 jobs in five years with a US$20 million biomass furnace factory he hopes to build at Huber Industrial Park next year. Rockport, Maine- based RE-Gen LLC, is seeking town help to secure up to $10 million in federally tax-exempt bonds. The project would be a tonic for a depressed Katahdin region economy reeling from paper mill layoffs and shutdowns.
