Event tonight showcases singers, songwriters
For the Sake of the Song is an evening dedicated to faith and inspiration. Taking place tonight at Backstreet Records, the evening will showcase the work of Stephanie Mainville and Jen Jewett. The show will take place this evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is artist appreciation. Call 693-9425 for more information.

East Branch summer programs
The East Branch public library has a busy summer program. It includes Pre-School Storytime, every Thursday from 10:30 to 11 a.m., the Family Drop-in program at any time and Dance Dance Revolution from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on July 15 and Aug. 12. Craft Crazy Club runs every Tuesday from June 30 to Aug. 11, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Crazy Craft Club also runs on Wednesdays from July 8 to Aug. 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and on Thursdays from July 2 to Aug. 13, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Art Attack Club begins on June 30, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and continues every Tuesday until Aug. 11. Puppet Club begins on June 29, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and continues each Monday until Aug. 10.
Weekend Windup takes place every Friday from July 3 to Aug. 14, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Call 643-7250 for more information.
Art
New exhibit to be launched tonight
Third Space Gallery on Princess Street is launching its newest exhibition, The Tongue is the Rudder of Our Ship by artists Sym Corrigan and Leah Modigliani, and is inviting everyone to bring a bottle of wine and enjoy. The exhibit is a collaborative video installation depicting maritime semaphore flag signals, representing the emotional impulses that long-distance communication creates and lessens. The launch party is 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Infusion Tea Room at at the City Market on Charlotte Street.
Summer Fun
Science meets culture at camp
Science East has teamed up with the New Brunswick Museum for a summer camp that will fuse culture and science. Children ages seven to 12 can experiment with forensics, chemistry and more, as well the getting the opportunity to explore the museum. The camp will run Aug. 4-7 and costs $120.
