Fredericton raceway
Harris wins 30-lap feature

Fredericton - The Speedway 660 season opened at the Fredericton raceway on Saturday. Placing first in the 30-lap Martin's Home Heating Sportsmen Feature was Wade Harris of Canal. John Rankin of St. Andrews came in second while Fredericton's Derek Christie placed third. In the Sportsman Dash, Wade Harris clinched first, Derek Christie came in second and Myles Harris of Nasonworth placed third. The 40-lap Irving Lubricants Pro Stock Feature was won by Harris of Fredericton Junction. Greg Fahey of St. Stephen came in second and Glenn Rasmussen of New Denmark took third. Harris also placed first in the Pro Stock Dash, followed by Rasmussen in second and Kevin Moore of Lincoln in third. In the 20-lap Coast Tire Street Stock Feature, Shawn Hyslop of St. Stephen earned first, with Brian Fox of Burton placing second and Saint John's Bill Belleville taking third. In the Street Stock Dash, Brian Fox came in first, followed by Hyslop in second and Saint John's Rick Cashol in third.

Sonics blast by Rockets

SAINT JOHN - The Kennebecasis Valley Sonic edged the Saint John Rockets 8-7 in peewee lacrosse action. Miah MacGillivray and Brock Stanley scored three goals apiece for the Sonic while Andrew Neilson and Geoffrey Oland added singles. Michael Woodhouse and Chad Randall tallied two goals apiece for the Rockets while singles came from Marcus Tesink, Jake McGraw and Adam Simon. In tyke action, the Saint John Killer Bees doubled the Saint John Rock 6-3. Zach Vaughan and Ryan Oram each scored twice for the Killer Bees while singles came from William Delaney and Kail Short. Nick Pastirik, Connor Clark and Drew Jonhston found the mark for the Rock.

Indians open season Thursday

HAMPTON - The Hampton Indians will open the Southern New Brunswick Intermediate Baseball League season against the Riverveiw A's Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Field in Hampton. The Tribe's starting pitcher will be Troy Summerville.

Softball

Hogan, Kirkpatrick pace Power Bros

SAINT JOHN - The Real Wood Power Brothers bombed the Eastside Boys 27-5 in Saint John Moosehead Slopitch League action. Jason Hogan stroked four hits for the Power Brothers, while Rick Kirkpatrick also swatted four hits, including a home run. Troy King collected three hits and one dinger for the winners. Chris Springer had two hits and drove in two runs for Eastside.
