Ottawa announces $66M for N.L. wharf improvements
PETTY HARBOUR, N.L. - Ottawa is spending more than $66 million on repairing and improving wharfs in Newfoundland. Senator Fabian Manning, left, announced the funding for small craft harbours in the province Friday. Most of the money is from the federal government's Economic Action plan announced in January's federal budget, while the remaining $14.1 million is from annual funding for small craft harbours.

Verso mill starts up after three-week upgrade
BUCKSPORT, MAINE - Verso Paper mill in Maine will begin producing paper again after a three-week, cold mill upgrade/maintenance program. The startup process began Thursday and will continue through the weekend, according to Verso spokesman Bill Cohen. It will take crews into next week to get the mill up and running, Cohen said. The mill's No. 2 paper machine will begin producing a specialty grade of paper for a limited two-week run.

Communication networks conference starts Sunday
MONCTON - The Seventh Annual Conference on Communication Networks and Services Research will be held in Moncton May 11 to 13 at the Delta Hotel Moncton. The event will feature keynote speakers: cluster computing expert Salim Hariri of The University of Arizona; Lajos Hanzo, an author with extensive works on mobile radio communications; and Hussein Mouftah, an electrical and computer engineer at Queen's University.
