Pick of the week: The full-length ballet 'King Lear' will be performed in three New Brunswick cities in the coming weeks. It plays at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton today (856-4379); at the Imperial Theatre, Saint John, on Oct. 18 (674-4100) and at the Playhouse, Fredericton, on Oct. 25 (458-8344). 'King Lear' is a dark and gripping story of pride, betrayal and treachery, with classic roots and themes that resonate with modern audiences.

The Shakespeare Festival finishes today. This year's festival features William Shakespeare's play 'All's Well that Ends Well,' 7:30 p.m., auditorium, St. Malachy's High School, Sydney Street, Saint John. Presented by the Shakespeare Society of Saint John. Call 674-2240.
Kings Landing, near Fredericton, holds its annual Thanksgiving Festival, Oct. 11-13. Turkey Shoot on Saturday and Monday, and a country auction near the King's Head Inn on Sunday. The King's Head Inn serves turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, vegetables and pumpkin pie on all three days, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. n Monday: Saint John Trade and Convention Centre, One Market Square, Saint John, hosts Tim Isaac's annual Thanksgiving Day auction beginning at noon. Viewings take place before the auction, Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. to noon. This auction will feature many beautiful pieces of furniture, art and miscellaneous items.
