Ministers do not work 9 to 5 and they are always carrying confidential documents with them. Persons travelling with the Minister, wether spouse or girlfriend or other, have the opportunity to witness such documents. A girlfriend or other could conceivably blackmail such a minister over some confidential documents they had seen. It is a matter of national security and such persons travelling with ministers should be screened to protect national security. What would be wrong with such screening.

His girlfriend has ties with the underworld ,maybe he was up to no good who knows these politicians have been caught at pretty well everything imaginable and his track record doesn't seem to be that good.
Paul Martin treated his friends pretty good with taxpayers money or have we forgotten the liberal scandal they all denied until the evidence showed up.
