  • CORBETT, JOYCE M. - The death of Joyce Marion Corbett of Sussex occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on February 14, 2010 at the age of 70. She was the wife of the late Claude J.K. Corbett who passed away January 3, 2009. Born at Sussex, Joyce was a daughter of the late Alvin and Grace (Armstrong) Hawkes. She is survived by children; Joanne Teakles (Brian MacDonald) of Sussex, Connie Bustin of Saint John, Jack (Coleen) Corbett of Smiths Creek, Debbie (Douglas) Murray of Picadilly, David (Julie) Corbett of Sussex and son-in-law John Teakles of New Line, fourteen grandchildren; Jocelyn Teakles and Heather (Ian) MacKay; Jill, Courtney and Hilary Bustin; Jonathan, Molly and Carrie Corbett; William, Cassandra and Jessica Murray; Sam, Rachel and Jack Corbett and two great grandchildren Sara and Carter, her sister Carol Branscombe of Sussex, brother-in-law Hugh Morrow of Burton, NB, sisters-in-law Greta (Walter) Polley of Sussex and Laura (Garfield) Morrow of Roachville, three nieces and two nephews. In addition to her husband Claude and her parents, Joyce was predeceased by an infant sister Thelma Hawkes and sister Lorna Morrow.   • TABOR, BERNARD CARL - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Bernard Carl "Bernie" Tabor on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home after a long and tenacious battle with cancer. Born January 9, 1952 in Sussex, NB, he was the son of the late Merlin and Vera (nee Seeley) Tabor. Bernard was a past employee of the Engineering Branch of the Province of NB, MacLean Construction, Charlottetown, PE and Hambly Enterprises, Charlottetown, PE. He is survived by his wife Judy (nee Dowling); his daughter Kendra (Wes) White, Ladysmith, BC; his sons Brett, Montreal, PQ, and Alex, Charlottetown, PE; his precious grandsons Gavin and Caleb White, Ladysmith, BC; his brothers and sisters David (Barbara), Apohaqui, NB, Arthur (Janet), Passekeag, NB, Larry, Hammondale, NB, Kent (Krista), Drury's Cove, NB, Peter (Lucie), Eagle Lake, Maine, USA, Shawn, Apohaqui, NB, Marie Tabor (Ron Suzuki), Vancouver, BC, Gayle Tabor, Coquitlam, BC, Rose Stockdale (Bill), Drury's Cove, NB, Janet MacLean (Mark), Taylor Lake, NB, Pam Hazen (David), Halifax, NS, Dawn Tabor (Ronnie Webb), Apohaqui, NB, Trina Tabor (Ronnie Corbett), Apohaqui, NB; his in-laws Noreen Hennessey, Charlottetown, Bob Dowling, Charlottetown, Ron Dowling (Donna Birch), Summerside, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Saint John, NB January 21, 1922. Daughter of Joseph and Annie Collrin, Predeceased by her husband Ralph C. Flowers, Sons Ralph, Earl, Wayne, Allan, George, and Daniel. Survived by three sons Charles and James Curran, and Bert Flowers, daughters Diane (Adrian), Anna (Rick), Ruth, Gladys, Sandra (Hans), Scarlet (Gary). Also survived by one special brother Leroy Collrin of St. John, NB, Numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews and a Special Friend Kathleen Ring. She was affiliated with the Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church and a Member of the Barkers Point Seniors Group. In her many years of life Cecilia cared for numerous children through the Foster program of Fredericton. At the request of Cecilia there will be no Visitation and no Service. A Private Committal Service for the family will be held. In lieu of flowers by request donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

  • CORBETT, MERRITT CEDRIC - The death of Merritt Cedric Corbett, age 76, husband of Pauline (Johnson) Corbett, of Apohaqui, NB, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre, Sussex, NB, on November 8, 2009. He was born at Dunn's Corner, NB and was the son of the late Walter and Marion (Smith) Corbett. Merritt is survived by his wife; sons David and Anne Marie Corbett, Robert and Anita Corbett, Ronnie and Trina Corbett, Brian and Bertha Corbett all of Apohaqui; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters Georgie and Allan Charters of Sussex, Dorothy Cooper of Smiths Creek; brother Douglas and Margaret Corbett of Sussex; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Kenneth Corbett; grandson Winston; brother-in-law Thomas Cooper. He is resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visitation on Tuesday from 3 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held from Sherwood's Chapel on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm. A private family interment will follow in Riverbank Cemetery.
