The trial for Austin Tingley, 27, was set for four days, starting June 9, 2025.

He’s accused of manufacturing prohibited firearms knowing he’s not authorized to do so under the Firearms Act. The charge, laid Nov. 16, alleges the crime occurred between July 1 and Aug. 31 in Hillsborough.

The RCMP said in a September news release that on Aug. 27 members of the Caledonia Region RCMP detachment received information regarding the illegal manufacturing of 3D-printed firearms and subsequently began an investigation.

On Aug. 31, members of that detachment, along with the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team, New Brunswick RCMP Digital Forensics Services, RCMP Southeast Community Crime Reduction Unit and RCMP Police Dog Services searched a residence on Pleasant Street in Hillsborough, according to the release. During the search, police said they seized 3D-printed firearms, 3D-printed firearms parts and components, electronics, a 3D printer and other material.
