HALIFAX - Organizers of the 28th Atlantic Film Festival say this year's event will feature its largest program yet.

The festival will screen 254 films over 10 days in Halifax next month.

Festival director Lia Rinaldo says the event will put the spotlight on 70 films from Atlantic Canada.

While the festival will concentrate on the Atlantic region, films from Argentina, Brazil and Mexico will bring a Latin flair.

The event will kick off Sept. 11 with the Canadian co-production Blindness, which also opened the Cannes Film Festival.

The film fest will close on Sept. 20 with a gala showing of Summerhood, a summer camp comedy by Halifax filmmaker Jacob Medjuck.
