It's Beaujolais Nouveau day
Published Thursday November 19th, 2009

Each year, wine-lovers await the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau. But this year, they may be even more excited than usual.
George Duboeuf, the undisputed father of the international Beaujolais Nouveau phenomenon, is releasing a new wine in New Brunswick and it's the first time it has ever been offered for sale in Canada, a press release stated Wednesday.
Duboeuf, who has over 50 years of winemaking experience, describes the 2009 vintage with reverence.
"Beaujolais Nouveau 2009 is the vintage of excellence, the sort of vintage that you see once in a lifetime," says Mr. Duboeuf.
Sold under the Aujoux label, the new wine is presented in an old-fashioned bottle shape.
New Brunswick sommelier Bill Vance said in the release he expects people to be surprised by the quality this year.
Beaujolais Nouveau is released around the world on the third Thursday in November. It will be available at most major NB Liquor stores when they open today.
