Mercury in flu vaccine? What to be nervous about (or not)
Published Saturday October 31st, 2009

Like cell phones and Starbucks, mercury is everywhere. It's in the air, in rocks and soil, as the silvery liquid in old thermometers, in dental fillings and, lately, in headlines. Mercury in swine flu vaccines! Mercury in fish!
Don't hit the panic button. Mercury exposure is serious: It can cause neurological and muscular damage in adults and kids, and especially in babies still in the womb. But there are some serious Internet myths about it, too. Keep yourself healthy with these truths:
Myth: There are high amounts of mercury levels in the swine flu and seasonal flu vaccines.
Truth: Multiple-dose vials of these vaccines do contain the mercury-based preservative thimerosal. But the amount is tiny. A single dose delivers about 28 micrograms of mercury, the same as a small tuna fish sandwich. And while the tuna has methyl mercury, the type that accumulates in your bloodstream and has been linked to nervous-system damage, the type in thimerosal is ethyl mercury, which studies suggest is eliminated from your body relatively swiftly.
Yes, the swine flu shot has thimerosal, but thimerosal has been removed from virtually all other vaccines for kids under the age of 6 and from many given to older kids and adults, too. If you're still concerned about it, some thimerosal-free versions of both vaccines will be available this fall and winter - in single-dose vials, prefilled syringes or "mist" versions that are inhaled instead of injected. But if you can't find one, go with the regular, thimerosal-containing type. Don't die while trying to avoid a tuna sandwich's worth of mercury.
Myth: Since there's mercury in some fish, it's better just to avoid all fish.
Truth: Fish are the top source of mercury in the human diet. But not all fish are bad. Your body needs the heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids found in some fish (and if you're pregnant or nursing, your growing baby needs 'em too - omega-3s help build better brains). Instead of cutting out all fish, aim for two weekly servings of salmon or trout, both of which are low in mercury, as is canned light tuna (in contrast, albacore's got three times more mercury), pollock and even fish sticks - and cut out higher-mercury types like shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish (some environmental groups add wild striped bass, bluefish, bluefin tuna and marlin to that list). Have varieties like orange roughy, Chilean sea bass and blue crab only once or twice a month. By the way, it isn't just the fish fat that's healthy - it's the fish protein as well.
The good news is that the fatty fish high in omega-3s, like salmon, are generally lower in mercury because they eat microscopic sea creatures like zooplankton; in contrast, lean, predatory fish that munch on smaller fish (which already have mercury building up in their bodies) tend to accumulate more mercury, which then gets passed along to you.
Myth: Breathing the air near coal-fired power plants makes you a walking mercury dump.
Truth: Mercury released from power-plant smokestacks is inorganic mercury, the least toxic type. It's a public health issue not because of direct inhalation but because it wafts through the atmosphere and settles in waterways around the globe, where it undergoes chemical changes that allow it to move up the food chain, right to your dinner plate (it accumulates in some of the fish you eat). A new U.S. Geological Survey report found trace levels or higher in every fish caught in 300 streams, large and small - even from creeks along the coasts of North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Louisiana. Other research has found it in fish that live deep in the ocean and in remote streams in Canada and Alaska. What's important: If you fish and eat what you catch, be sure to keep up with local fish advisories about mercury and other toxins. (Find U.S. advisories at www.epa.gov/waterscience/fish/; in Canada, contact the provincial or territorial government to find out about any local advisories.)
Myth: Silver fillings "leach" toxic mercury into your mouth.
Truth: Amalgam fillings do contain minute amounts of mercury, but once they're in, little mercury vapor is released. The big risk is not having them placed in a well-ventilated dentist's office and not using a dam in your mouth while you're having the work done (that same precaution needs be taken for composite cavity fillings).

Health Canada has recognized and has a warning out on mercury amalgam dental fillings saying some people suffer severe health effects. Other countries are banning them now because the real science supports it. Many people get harmed by the mercury in both these things.
If you want the truth on vaccines, I would refer you to the recent your tube videos featuring Dr. Gary Null speaking to the NYS in New York about the vaccines especially the swine flu vaccine. It is a 3 part series on hearings about forced vaccines or lose their jobs.

It is much more, it is the corruption of the immune system that has been proven.
I think it is time for the real truth to come out and not articles like this with nothing to back them up.
The vaccine program needs to be stopped because they are destroying everyone's immune system and there is lots of proof. Dr Oz has a show and he profits from industry. How sad that money has become more important than the truth that is causing major health problems in society today.
If you want the truth then you can find it if you look and open you mind and stop listening to people who profit from lies. This is what I had to do after my life has been destroyed because I did not know the truth.
As someone who has experienced mercury toxicity first hand and has worked in a practice where we dealt with mercury toxic people, it appears that someone must be paying some good money to Dr. Oz to have him suddenly go against what he used to stand for. I guess everyone has their price.
There is no safe level of mercury in the body. It's the deadliest non-radioactive substance on the planet. Mothers pass it on to their babies. Let's let our immune systems do their jobs. We don't need mercury fillings or mercury in vaccines. It should be outlawed and the perpetrators should be thrown in prison. It must become illegal to make money with poisoning people.
I suggest watching the videos here www.garynull.com:(see Videos from the NYS Assembly Hearing). This is serious business based on lies. Nazi times will come again if not stopped.
Mercury is a gas at room temperature and vaporizes continuously from amalgams, so those with amalgams get exposures on average 5 times those without. Also those with several amalgams excrete approx. 30 micrograms of mercury into sewers, making amalgam the largest source of mercury in sewers, in sewer sludge, and a major source in water bodies, fish, etc. www.flcv.com/damspr2f.html
I have to say that after a family member suffered mercury poisoning following a vaccine, we agree with Mrs Oz.
The fact that the vaccine companies sought & were granted immunity from lawsuits if their vaccines injured people, just adds to our resolve to refuse vaccines. If the vaccine was any good & harmless, the makers would not have needed such immunity.
I would ask that all those who get the nasal flumist, self quarantine please, as apparently they "shed" for a few weeks, hence medical staff refusing these as it may endanger their patients.
Let the free market decide! Oops - no longer free?
New crematoriums must now have very expensive filters because mercury from deceased people's fillings was polluting the local air and food chain.
