* Tanners Home Inn, 190 King Street east, Saint John, presents the Walk-a-block program, starting at 11 a.m. (please arrive by 10:45 a.m.) All walks are 1 hour and 15 minutes in duration. The price is $10 and includes refreshments. The walks are hosted by Saint John historians Harold E. Wright and William Thompson. Other guest narrators will participate in some of the walks. In case of inclement weather, the walk will be held the following day at 1 p.m. unless otherwise stated. Guests on these walks may enter into a draw to win a free night accommodation at the Tanners Home Inn in the fall of 2009. Out of town visitors will be given the option of a free night in the early spring or fall of 2010. Today's theme is our ladies and gents who scored big in the U.S.A. Call 634-8917 for details.

* Gordon Gets Lost and Halifax rockers Caledonia perform at 10 p.m. at the Blue Olive in Saint John. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

* Martello Music Series presents the ECMA winning Saint John String Quartet at Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site, 454 Whipple St., Saint John West. Enjoy the 7:30 p.m. show before the quartet undertakes a concert tour of Belgium. Tickets are $20 for adults, with special rates for seniors and youth. Call 636-4011 for tickets and information.

* Today is the final day to see the current exhibitions at the Saint John Arts Centre featuring work by Mary Young, Jean-Frances, Patty Pendleton, Colin H. Smith, Carol Colicutt and Whitefeather. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Call 633-4870 for details.

* The Atlantic Canada Arabian Horse Association hosts a two-day Arabian Horse show celebrating the fire and grace of the breed and featuring the annual costume class celebrating the desert heritage of these horses. The show takes place today and Sunday at the Princess Louise Park show Centre in Sussex with free parking and admission (to most events). Visit www.plpshowcentre.com for more information.

* The Fundy Trail Concert on the Green series kicks off with a free concert by the Big John Little Trio. It will take place in the Fundy Trail Tent in Parking lot #6 from 2-4 p.m. The trio features John Little, Greg Marks and Tom Noel. Call 833-2019 or visit www.fundytrailparkway.com for details.

* The New Brunswick Crafts Council Gallery hosts an exhibition featuring production line craft by leading craftspeople of New Brunswick until Sept. 18. Buy the Best gives an opportunity for the public to view and purchase exclusive production line work from members of the New Brunswick Crafts Council. New items will be on display weekly so drop by the gallery and take a look at what New Brunswick fine craftspeople have to offer. The New Brunswick Crafts Council Gallery is located on the main floor of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton.
