Cera chats with Letterman
Published Friday June 19th, 2009

Here's what's happening today on the small screen:
* Brampton, Ont., native Michael Cera promotes his new cave-man comedy Year One on The Late Show With David Letterman. The film has the quirky star playing the same type of character moviegoers have come to know and love him for: an adorably awkward geek with a sharp wit. Only in this case, the awkward geek is a lazy Neanderthal named Oh who gets into dangerous situations alongside Zed (Jack Black). Other characters include Adam and Eve (Harold Ramis and Rhoda Griffis), Cain and Abel (David Cross and Paul Rudd) and Abraham (Hank Azaria). Judd Apatow produces the feature that hits theatres today. (CBS)
* An older cinematic charmer is Mona Lisa Smile, which is brimming with stellar female stars, including Julia Roberts, Kirsten Dunst, Julia Stiles, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ginnifer Goodwin and Marcia Gay Harden. Roberts plays Katherine Ann Watson, a new art-history teacher at the prestigious Wellesley College in the 1950s. Her views are considered progressive for the times and clash with those of the all-female school. (W Network)
