Toronto's Treasa Levasseur performs at the Blue Olive, 418 Rothesay Ave., Saint John, at 8 p.m. Broken-hearted blues ballads, barroom raunch, gospel style inspirationals, raunchy rock, Levasseur plays what shakes her soul. Her lyrics are smart, poetic and socially conscious. Influenced by soulful sirens Etta James, Carole King, Dusty Springfield, Annie Lennox and Bessie Smith, Treasa's roots spread far and dig deep. Pop-punk trio MxPx performs at The Kent Theatre, 24 Coburg St. in Saint John in support of their eighth studio album 'Secret Weapon.' Also performing at the all ages show are Only Crime, TAT, Hospital Grade and Sixteenth Avenue. Doors open at 5:30 and the show starts at 6:30 p.m.

151 in Fredericton introduces six exhibitions with an opening reception between 6 and 9 p.m. Joyce Ripley displays beautiful watercolour, Bill Hicks exposes drummoot, Judy Saunders creates realism, Don Gould shows his depth with New Works, Francine Voisine creates with oil and Lynda Rae Burke further establishes her love for colour. The Saint John Board of Trade presents a luncheon with Stéphane Dion, Leader of the Official Opposition and the Liberal Party of Canada. Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m. and the luncheon and presentation is at noon at Delta Brunswick Hotel, 39 King St. The cost is $35 plus HST ($39.55) for members and $50 plus HST ($56.50) for new members. Thursday Night Art sessions for adults continue every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton. Be inspired by the art around you and learn new techniques in a variety of media. The cost is $10 for non-members, and free for members. Materials are included. Registration is not required.

The Carnegie Book Club meets at the Saint John Arts Centre from 1-3 p.m. Join other book lovers for a stimulating monthly exchange of ideas, reactions and recommendations for further discovery. Featured book is Nancy Horan's Loving Frank. New members are welcome.

The Third Age Centre at St. Thomas University in Fredericton hosts Brain Fitness: The Newest Frontier, a talk presented by Dr. William E. Reichman, an internationally known expert in geriatric mental health and dementia. Reichman is the president and CEO of Baycrest, one of the world's premiere academic health sciences centres focused on aging and brain function. The session will be held at the Forest Hill Conference Centre, Oak Room, 368 Forest Hill Rd., from 2-4 p.m. Admission for members is $10, or $15 for non-members.
