The CMHA branch hosts a conference in St. Andrews to celebrate CMHA's national Mental Health Week. The theme will be mental health in the workplace: "Mental Health: Make it Your Business." For details, call Roz Allen at 755-4060.

Grades 5 through 9 of School District 6 present the Regional Heritage Fair at Kings Valley Wesleyan Church, Quispamsis from 7-8 p.m., with award presentations at 7:30.

The 3rd annual Canterbury Tales Literary Festival kicks off today in Saint John, running until Saturday at the Saint John Free Public Library in Market Square. The New Brunswick Crafts Council presents a public lecture by Janice Wright Cheney and Denise Richard from 7-9 pm at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton. They will also offer a fibre arts workshop on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.

Several students and one parent creates a theatre production from scratch using the award-winning, non-fiction novel Three Wishes: Palestinian and Israeli Children Speak. Performances take place at Nashwaaksis Middle School today at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. Tickets, $5 for adults, $3 for students, are available at the door. Opening night of Readers' Theatre's production of Animal Farm takes place at Stepping Stone Centre, on Saunders Street in Fredericton, followed by a performance at Unitarian House, 874 York St., on Saturday, both beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a post-show discussion with the performers following both shows. Admission is by free-will offering in support of establishing a hospice in Fredericton.

A conference for New Brunswick Scholars and citizens will be held at St. Thomas University in Fredericton in Brian Mulroney Hall, room 101 at 5:15 p.m. The conference will feature noted author and social commentator Heather Menzies. Exploring the Dimensions of Self-Sufficiency for New Brunswick. All sessions are free and open to the public. A similar event will be held on Saturday.

A Church Yard Sale will be held from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Paul's Anglican Church, (beside the Post Office), Rothesay Common. There will be a barbecue, coffee, tea and treats. For details, call 847-4954 or 634-7515.

Jigsaw Winds presents its sixth annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Thomas University Music Recital Room, McCain Hall 101, Fredericton. Highlights of the program include Old American Songs by Aaron Copland and Missa Brevis by New Brunswick composer Paul Murray. Tickets are available at the door $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

The University of New Brunswick Centre for Musical Arts hosts its 5th Annual Tuba-Euphonium Workshop on the Fredericton campus. The workshop is open to players of all ages and levels and there will be a public concert on Saturday.
