I think it is a female magnolia warbler. – Brittany Weatherhead, Saint John Brittany is close, but although it’s an insect-eating bird, it’s not a magnolia warbler. This bird is a blue-headed vireo, identified by its bluish-grey head, prominent white eye-ring (actually white “spectacles” if not for the limb in the way), yellowish sides, wing bars and white belly. The blue-headed vireo is a woodland species that nests across the province in mixed forest and migrates south in September or October. – Jim Wilson
