A king's wealth of experience

SAINT JOHN - The mystery company of New Brunswick's casino bid, known only as 2050613 Ontario Inc., is no longer a mystery.
The man behind the cryptic, numerical name is 37-year-old James Baxter Warren of Toronto, and he is one-fourth of the proponents who won the bid to operate a casino in New Brunswick.
"We're not officially allowed to discuss the bid," said a boyish-sounding Warren from his home.
"I can't discuss the bid or the competitors," he reiterated when pressed for details.
But the Telegraph-Journal has learned the relatively young Warren already has a king's wealth of experience in the areas of communications and gaming.
Before becoming known as 2050613 Ontario Inc., Warren was head of responsible gaming with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, which he left in September of last year.
Warren also served as executive director of communications for Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. He was handed the province's gaming file and advised the premier on gaming issues.
The husband and father of two was deputy chief of staff for former Toronto mayor Mel Lastman, and served the mayor in global media relations for Toronto's Olympic bid almost a decade ago.
Of course, this stint would have included putting out fires after Lastman's infamous off-the-cuff remark during a trip to Africa to promote the games of being put "in a pot of boiling water with all these natives dancing around me."
Warren graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University in 1994 and seems to have started his career as a manager of corporate affairs for the Royal Bank.
