Committee wil meet Monday

QUISPAMSIS - The KV Committee for Disabled Persons will hold its monthly meeting on Monday. The event gets underway at 7 p.m. in the boardroom of the Rothesay Regional Police station. The meeting is open to any interested parties. For more information, contact 849-7609.

Purton Dickson elected president

QUISPAMSIS - Dana Purton Dickson, director of community services for the town of Quispamsis, has been elected the president of Recreation New Brunswick. Dickson has been a board member of the association since 2004. Town facilities manager Debbie Allen was president of the association from September 2006 to September 2007.

Town announces merit award winners

ROTHESAY - The town of Rothesay has announced the recipients of the 2008 New Brunswick Day Merit Awards for the town. The awards are an opportunity for municipalities to recognize deserving citizens for their support, dedication and service. This year's recipients include Saint David's United Church men's Group (arts and culture), Elaine Whitney (community leadership), Gilles Gautreau (sports and recreation), Stewart Munroe (volunteer service), Canadian Tire (business) and Sandy Mackay (environment). The winners will be recognized in a ceremony at town hall on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.
