SAINT JOHN - The New Brunswick Children's Foundation (NBCF) board of directors recently donated $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of New Brunswick. This donation is in addition to the $502,365 in grants awarded in the past fiscal year to assist New Brunswick charities in helping New Brunswick children.
"Our aim was to choose a provincial organization respected in their communities for their dedication, hard work and support which would benefit a large number of New Brunswick children," said NBCF president Blair MacDonald. "The boys and girls clubs met the criteria perfectly."
Active clubs are Grand Manan, Charlotte County, Saint John, Fredericton, Miramichi, Moncton, Dieppe, Havelock, Petitcodiac, Riverview and Salisbury. Each club will utilize the funds according to their individual needs: summer and after school programs, minor club renovation or upgrading of their computer or stereo equipment.
Heather Estey, executive director of the Charlotte Co. Boys & Girls Club, said, "The funds came at a wonderful time. It allows us an unexpected opportunity to enrich the services offered at our club."
For the past 29 years, the New Brunswick Foundation has granted provincial charities more than $11 million in "Helping New Brunswick's Children to Succeed."
