Until Sunday, 500 of the top agility dogs in Canada and parts of the United States are in Sussex competing in the national agility championships. The community has rolled out the red carpet for participants of the event that has never been held east of Montreal. On Thursday night all breeds and sizes of dogs, as well as their handlers, were welcomed to the town by Mayor Ralph Carr, who said he never dreamed of the magnitude of the event when agility enthusiasts in the region pitched Sussex for what is called the Canada Games for dogs. Competitions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday. Competition Sunday will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., following by the closing ceremonies.
