Man flees border, caught in city

ST. STEPHEN - A man who drove through the border without stopping at customs was detained in Saint John and turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency. Sgt. Greg MacAvoy of the District 1 RCMP, said police received the call on Monday and issued an alert with the licence plate number on the man's vehicle.

Pair escape with minor injuries

GRAND MANAN - The RCMP is investigating a single-vehicle accident on Cedar Heights Road that resulted in minor injuries to two women. Sgt. Greg MacAvoy of the District 1 RCMP said the driver of a truck lost control of the vehicle when a tire slipped off the pavement and hit some gravel. The truck went into the ditch and was seriously damaged.

Police looking into ATV fire

ST. STEPHEN - RCMP officers are investigating a fire that burned an ATV Sunday to determine if it was accidental or if anyone was involved. Police received a report of mischief to an ATV on Stillwater Avenue by the owner who informed police that his vehicle was parked in front of his residence and when he looked out his window it was on fire. Sgt. Greg MacAvoy of the District 1 RCMP said police are not sure what the cause of the fire was and are continuing to look into the matter.

Man falls off bike after hitting dog

ROLLINGDAM - A group of people on motorcycles were out for a ride on Sunday when a dog ran in front of their path. Sgt. Greg MacAvoy of the District 1 RCMP said one man fell off his motorcycle when it hit the dog and he was taken to hospital to be checked. MacAvoy was not sure of the condition of the dog.

Theft

RCMP investigating break and enters

MUSQUASH - The RCMP is continuing to investigate reports of break, enter and theft on Friday. Sgt. Greg MacAvoy of the District 1 RCMP, said two homes near Musquash, one on Highway 790 and the other on the West Branch Road, were broken into. Personal items and electronics were stolen.
