Provincial Minister of Supply and Services Ed Doherty registered a personal best time of three hours and two minutes and finished in the middle of the pack in the hand cycle division of the New York City Marathon. It was a special day for the 60-year-old Saint John Harbour MLA as he was joined by his daughters, Teresa Caplice, centre, and Catherine Hynes Doherty, both of Toronto, in completing the 42-kilometre course that attracted more than 40,000 participants. 'It was cold with a bit of rain starting out but it was fine,' said Doherty, a veteran of several marathons. 'The crowds were so enthusiastic. There were something like 10 million people lining the streets with everyone cheering you on.'
