ST. ANDREWS - Snorkel the harbour seal recently celebrated his third birthday with a big party at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre aquarium, and with a large crowd in attendance, he even managed to blow out a candle. Some dressed up for the occasion; others brought gifts for the star attraction, who seemed to enjoy all of the attention and the singing of Happy Birthday.

Snorkel the harbour seal waves to the crowd during his birthday celebrations at the Huntsman aquarium in St. Andrews Saturday. A large crowd, which included Emily Cooke of Elmsville, far right, took in the festivities.

After the seal feeding, everyone headed to the aquarium theatre for some special marine-themed cupcakes and a seal-shaped cake designed and created by the Huntsman's Nancy Leavitt. Needless to say, the 200-plus cup cakes didn't last too long. The aquarium is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
