RCMP
Test scheduled for Wednesday
ST. GEORGE - RCMP is hosting an RCMP exam on Wednesday in St. George. The exam begins at 6 p.m. at the St. George RCMP office at 77 Mount Pleasant Rd. Anyone wishing to take the test must bring a picture identification and a valid driver's licence. Participants must register by contacting Brenda Thorne at 755-1130.
Water
Hydrants being flushed
ST. STEPHEN - The Town of St. Stephen began flushing fire hydrants on Monday. The flushing will be carried out until completion. The town apologizes to residents if there is any discoloration of water.
Crime
Three men accused of B and E
ST. STEPHEN - Three men in their early 20s from St. Stephen were arrested in connection with a rash of cottage break-ins throughout the county. RCMP in St. Stephen and St. George arrested three men on Saturday who are accused of breaking into more than 30 cottages last week. RCMP said electronics, liquor, tools, ATVs, generators, firearms, and housewares were stolen. RCMP said a large amount of the stolen property has been recovered and the investigation is continuing. RCMP said the three men would be in court on Monday in St. Stephen. On Monday, Tony Lee Connell, 21, of St. Stephen, Cyle John Edward Connell, 20, of St. Stephen and Stephen Dewolfe, 23, of St. Stephen, appeared in St. Stephen Provincial Court. All three men were charged with break and enter committing theft. Matters were adjourned and the men were released on conditions until Oct. 21 at 9:30 a.m., when they are due to enter pleas.
Market
Vendors needed during festival
ST. ANDREWS - Vendors are needed for a special farmers market in St. Andrews during the Indulge Festival. The special market will be on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Market Square.
