Fredericton Raceway double dips
Published Saturday September 6th, 2008

A double dose of harness racing excitement will bring the curtain down on the Fredericton Exhibition and what general manager Brent Briggs deems a successful 121st season of racing at Fredericton Raceway today.
Eight races are on the afternoon card, which begins at 1:30 p.m. and features four flights of the Bill Quigg Memorial Pace, each for a purse of $8,000.
The Quigg races, for three-year-old colts and fillies, are the longest running stakes races in the Maritimes. They were the first to split horses into colts and fillies, and there will be two colts and two fillies stakes on the afternoon card.
The evening card goes at 7 p.m. with eight more dashes, including the seventh running of the $7,500 Jennie and Joe Chippin Memorial Pace as the final race of the season at Fredericton Raceway.
"It's always the last race of the season for us, and we've got a very good field this year," said Briggs.
