Killer sentenced to life

David Joseph Ouellette is led from court in Moncton on Monday. The 38-year-old New Brunswick man has been sentenced to life in prison for the deaths of a woman whose body has never been found and for a man who was killed 18 years ago. Justice George Rideout ruled Monday he will be eligible for parole in 15 years. See story, page A2.

Why is this guy not in handcuffs? Everything about him (and in the courtroom) shows complete disdain for everything.

Maybe they are hoping that he tries to make a break so they can use deadly force.

It is very obvious why he is not in handcuffs. Just ask Judge Rideout.
He only killed two innocent people why would anyone want to embarass this man by making him look like a criminal?

What has happened to our justice system?

I believe he is in a body restraint device (body chains) which is covered by his shirt, you can actually see the handcuff bracelet on his left wrist which is attached to the waist chain.

You are right as it appears to us that the court gives out stiffer sentences for animal abuse than it does for the murder of a human being.
I know of a case in the city courts this year that took four years to make a decision on, and the murderer got four years as his sentence.
He killed another human being..why don't we just make murder legal?
